Giant mudskipper (Periophthalmodon schlosseri)
The giant mudskipper (Periophthalmodon schlosseri) is a fish that isn't bound to water. Since it needs to breathe air, it spends a decent amount of time on land, using its pectoral fins to 'skip' or 'walk' across mudflats. The giant mudskipper lives in parts of Southeast Asia and is found on muddy shores near mangrove forests, where it makes its home in water-filled burrows in the mud. |
