This is an image entitled "Scorpaena Stokesii" from Volume 1 of John Lort Stokes' 1846 book Discoveries in Australia. The fish species depicted is now known as Parascorpaena picta.

Parascorpaena picta, the Northern Scorpionfish, is a species of scorpionfish native to the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean. This species grows to a length of 16 centimetres (6.3 in) TL. Order: Scorpaeniformes, Family: Scorpaenidae.
