Tropical Birding tour report Northwest Ecuador December 2004
, was waiting for us. Along the trails a couple of

eventually showed themselves, but we decided to return next
morning for a better chance of seeing some the more elusive ground birds.

Moustached Antpittas were calling when we arrived at Mindo
Loma, but they remained hidden. The
Nari??o Tapaculo
was
more co-operative, hopping about in the low vegetation by the trail.
A canopy flock contained a good selection of tanagers and a superb
Pacific
Tuftedcheek
. Before leaving we had a look at the spectacular blooms
in the orchid garden, and enjoyed fresh mango juice while
