| For Scarysquirrel and everybody else - Back from my trip - Tree squirrel enjoying a cone Filename: Squirrel005.jpg

 Hi folks,

I have just returned from a five week trip to Karlsruhe, South Germany,
about 400 miles south from where I live. I had to attend some lessons
there which are needed for future developments as far as my job is
concerned. Karlsruhe has the luxury of having five Zoos within reach,
one of them being the small Zoo of Heidelberg.

When in a zoo, every now and then you run across some of the really wild
ones. Here is one who has volunteered to make Heidelberg Zoo its home
because there's lots of trees with tasty cones in it. Also a good
example what the image stabilized lens can do under tricky light
conditions - the sky was cloudy (the squirrel would have been all black
if sunny) and the animal was spot measured, providing a shutter time of
about 1/90 at 300 mm but there is virtually no motion blur. My other
lens (100-300 zoom, not stabilized) would have left no chance for a shot
 like this one.

 Greetings from Germany -

 Ralf
