Encouraging creation care in South Africa
Giraffes in Bisley Valley Nature Reserve
A Rocha South Africa has introduced quarterly “prayer walks” as part of their nature interpretation programme for churches in KwaZulu-Natal. In May they led a walk in Bisley Valley Nature Reserve and for an hour and half the group kept silence, except for periodic readings and reflections from Psalm 104. The theme was the basic need of every living creature for its own place - socially, ecologically and spiritually. A rare close-up sighting of two newborn Giraffe calves and a warning stare and strut from the herd's powerful Alpha-male reminded everyone of the need to know and accept our place in the creation. |
