Capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris)
The capybara - the world's largest rodent species - always lives near water in grasslands, swamps or forests. It is a semi-aquatic creature with partly-webbed feet; it swims well, and can stay underwater for several minutes at a time. Capybaras are herbivores, feeding on grasses and aquatic plants. |
