로키산산양 Oreamnos americanus
소과에 딸린 동물. 털은 황색이 도는 흰색이며 밑털이 길다. 어깨높이 90~125cm, 몸길이 145~175cm, 몸무게 55~140kg쯤이며 암컷보다 수컷이 더 크다. 험한 산악지대나 눈이 많이 오는 지역의 커다란 빙하의 가장자리에서 산다. 알래스카 남동부, 캐나다 서부 등지에 분포한다.

The mountain goat or Rocky Mountain goat (Oreamnos americanus) is a large hoofed mammal endemic to North America. A subalpine to alpine species, it is a sure-footed climber commonly seen on cliffs and ice. Oreamnos americanus inhabits the Rocky Mountains and Cascade Range and other mountain regions of the Western Cordillera of North America, from Washington, Idaho and Montana through British Columbia and Alberta, into the southern Yukon and southeastern Alaska. |
