The diadem volute Melo amphora is a large gastropod or marine snail in the family Volutidae. The shell is striking and heavy, with distinct markings and hollow spines on the shoulder. Animals are also large, with a conspicuous foot that itself exhibits beautiful patterned colouration. The shell and animal of this and related species are used by indigenous peoples and are also popular in decorative shell trade. |
