Great argus pheasant
Great argus pheasant, colourful bird native to Malaysia and Indonesia. The inner wing feathers are long, broad and marked with round eyespots. At mating time the male clears a site on his forest floor and performs a courtship display, elevating his wing feathers to form "reflectors" on each side of the back. Length: 1.8m. Family Phasianidae; species Argusianus argus. |
