Gharial, crocodilian native to N India. It has a long, narrow, rod-like snout, an olive or brownish back and lighter belly. It is harmless to humans, feeding almost exclusively on fish. Length: to 5m. Family Gavilaidae; species Gavialis gangeticus. |
