The Siberian rubythroat (Calliope calliope) is a small passerine bird first described by Peter Simon Pallas in 1776. It was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family, Turdidae, but is now more generally considered to be an Old World flycatcher of the family Muscicapidae.[3] The Siberian rubythroat and similar small European species are often called chats. The Siberian rubythroat (Calliope calliope) is a small, migratory passerine bird known for its striking appearance and melodious song. Males are particularly notable for their vivid red throats, bordered by black and white, while females have a more subdued coloration. This species breeds in the mixed coniferous forests of Siberia and winters in Southeast Asia, including Thailand and India. Siberian rubythroats are shy birds, often found in dense undergrowth near wet areas, and are known for their beautiful warbling songs.
