Abstract: Recreational salmon fishing for kings, or also called chinook, black or blackmouth, on the Deshka River in southcentral Alaska. The Deshka is a tributary of the Susitna River. It can be reached by a one hour drive and a 15 minute boat ride, or a 30 minute plane ride from Anchorage. In June many Alaska and Outside fishermen descend upon the river to catch salmon that have come up the Susitna only a short way from saltwater in Cooks Inlet. During the peak of the run in mid-June as many as 3000 kings a day pass the fish weir.
