Albanian water frog (Pelophylax shqipericus)
The Albanian water frog (Pelophylax shqipericus) is a medium-sized frog, typically around 71 mm for males and 74 mm for females, with a green to light brown dorsal side that can have large dark spots or a vertebral stripe. It prefers aquatic habitats like marshes and ditches, is highly webbed, and has yellow colour on its groin and underside. During breeding season, males may become brighter in colour with spots fading or disappearing, and they have light grey or green vocal sacs. |
