Sable, marten native to northern pine forests of Siberia. It has been hunted to the point of extinction for its thick, soft, durable fur which is dark brown to black, sometimes flecked with white; but conservation measures have restored the population to a much safer level. Length: to 60cm. Family Mustelidae; species Martes zibellina. |
