Nesting Colonies
ALL WATERBIRDS have to come to land to nest. They usually nest on cliffs or remote islands, where they are beyond the reach of most predators. On rocky coasts, space is often in short supply. In some places, thousands of birds cram together in a huge and noisy mass, and fights between neighbors are common.
PUFFIN COLONY
Atlantic puffins nest on grassy clifftops. Each female bird lays a single egg at the end of a short burrow.
