The Galapagos marine iguana (Amblyrhynchus cristatus) is a species of iguana found only on the Galápagos Islands (Ecuador) that has the ability, unique among modern lizards, to forage in the sea, making it a marine reptile.

바다이구아나 적도 지방인 갈라파고스 섬에 서식하는 바다이구아나는 헤엄치기의 선수이다. 갈라파고스 섬은 매우 열악한 환경을 지닌 섬으로 바다이구아나가 이 섬에 살게 된 이유는 정확하지 않으나 그 언젠가 바다이구아나의 선조가 파도에 밀려 이 섬에 정착한 것으로 보고 있다. 그러나 육지엔 먹을 것이라곤 거의 없어서 변온동물인 바다이구아나는 정말 살기 위해서 차디 찬 바다에 잠수하여 해조류를 뜯어먹으며 살고 있다. 오랜 기간 이 섬에 고립되다시피 정착한 지금은 그들만의 독특한 생활양식을 보이고 있어 생물학자들의 연구 대상이 되고 있다.
