Rhesus macaque, medium-sized, yellow-brown macaquemonkey of India. Short-tailed, it has a large head with a bare face, large ears and closely spaced, deep-set eyes. Used in scientific work, the rhesus macaque gave the first two letters of its name to the Rh blood factor. Height: 60cm. Family Cercopithecidae; species Macaca mulatta.
