Name: Galah
Scientific Name: Cacatua roseicapilla
Length: 360mm
Colouring: Head & underparts pink. Their back wings & tail are light
grey. Males have brown eyes & females have pink eyes.
Calls: The galah has a number of different calls ranging from single
note contact calls to harsh screeching territorial calls.
Breeding: Breeds mostly in August-November.
Eggs: 3-5. The eggs are white & are an oval shape.
Distribution: Common throughout most of Australia except extreme eastern
coast, south western Australia & parts of Tasmania. It occurs most often
in savanna, woodlands & open grasslands.
Interesting Fact: These birds often sit on our oval & peck at the grass
finding things to eat. They are common throughout Adelaide and people
often keep domesticated galahs as pets. These galahs are specially bred as
pets and wild birds shouldn't be taken from the wild.
