Mountain goat
Mountain goat, mountain-dwelling ruminant native to the USA; although goat-like in appearance it is more closely related to the antelope. Both sexes have short, pointed horns and woolly underfur with a top coat of white, coarse, shaggy hair. Mountain goats feed mostly on mosses, lichens and scrub foliage. Height: 1m at the shoulder. Family Bovidae; species Oreamnos americanus. |
