English: in 1902, a Canada goose landed on a steamer outside Metlakatla, British Columbia and rode it into port, where it met and befriended a local dog. As of 1904, it was the dog's constant companion, protecting the dog from other dogs, and from people who it felt were hostile.

The Canada goose (Branta canadensis) is a large wild goose species with a black head and neck, white patches on the face, and a brown body. Native to arctic and temperate regions of North America, the migration of Canada geese occasionally reaches northern Europe.
