Barbary macaque, tailless, yellowish-brown, ape-like monkey native to Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and introduced into Gibraltar. It is the size of a small dog. The Gibraltar Barbary macaques are the only wild monkeys in Europe. According to legend, if the Barbary macaques leave Gibraltar, so will the British. Length: 75cm (30 inches).
