The Indian gerbil is a member of the family Muridae, which comprises mice and rats. Known scientifically as Tatera indica, this species is found primarily in the dry and semi-arid regions of India, Pakistan and some parts of Bangladesh. As a small rodent, it has adapted remarkably to its environment, exhibiting behaviours that ensure its survival despite challenging conditions.
