Description
Abstract: Archie Carr NWR, Titusville, Florida: Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge consists of 20 miles of beach along central Florida's Atlantic Coast. It hosts the largest concentration of nesting loggerhead sea turtles in the western hemisphere. Here a female returns to the ocean after laying her eggs. She's fitted with radio telemetry equipment so that her movements can be monitored, enabling scientists to gain a greater understanding of the species and develop strategies for restoring populations to healthy levels.
