쌍봉낙타 Camelus bactrianus
낙타과에 딸린 동물. 등에 큰 혹 모양의 육봉이 2개 있어 지방을 저축하고 위에는 물을 많이 넣을 수 있는 까닭으로 오랫동안 배고픔과 갈증을 견딜 수 있다. 콧구멍은 자유로이 열고 닫을 수 있으며 냄새를 잘 맡아 2~3km밖의 수원지도 알아낸다. 네 다리가 굵고 짧으며 털이 길고 촘촘히 나 있다. 몽고, 중국 북부의 사막 등지에 분포한다.
