Super shot, John. How big is she? And, how did you get her to
open her mouth like that? Was someone holding her? Also,
any details on how you made the shot? Like, lens and settings?

Hi Shirley,

Thanks for the kind words!

This photo was taken at crocodilian breeder's facility when she
was about 2 feet in total length. Her maximum adult size should
be just under 5 feet. To get her mouth open was easy just go
near her. For this species she's in a classic defensive posture.
There was no need to restrain her she was standing her ground.
What these small dwarf caimans lack in size they make up for in
spirit. I did however have an assistant (wearing welding gloves)
ready in case the caiman made a run for it.

I used a Nikon f2.8 105mm macro lens, SB-21B ring flash.
Aperture was most likely around f11. I don't know the shutter
speed.
