Description
Abstract: San Joaquin River NWR, Los Banos, California: San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge is a fairly new refuge in central California. There are no visitor facilities at this time. This refuge will eventually encompass 10,000 acres along a 36-mile stretch of the San Joaquin River floodplain. It provides habitat for several thousand Aleutian Canada geese, greater sandhill cranes, white pelicans, and Swainson's hawks. In addition, one of the largest populations of threatened tri-colored blackbirds in California is found here.
