산간 초원의 풀밭에서 살며 풀잎의 줄기에 알을 낳는다.
다른 잠자리와는 달리 뿔처럼 생긴 더듬이를 가지고 있다.
애벌레는 돌 밑에서 곤충을 먹고 자란다.
